Purse: Black velvet evening clutch purse, 5" tall, 8" wide. The front of the purse has the Taj Mahal of India in gold twisted cord thread. There are also stars above the Taj Mahal. The front sides and bottom have a border of lines, circles, dots, and plus signs of twisted cord. The entire front of the purse is the cover and flips up. It closes with a snap at the bottom of the flap. Half of the snap is missing. The interior is lined with black polished cotton. Inside the purse is a pocket flap on each side. On one pocket flap is a white label with black print that says "MADE IN INDIA". The velvet is worn. Inside by the accession label is remnants of paper sticking to the lining.

Creola T. Marquette Pirius Tupa (Mrs. William G. Pirius) is the donor. Creola Marquette Pirius (2/18/1911-2/17/1991) was born in Wilmot, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Edward and Clara Marquette. She married William Pirius. They lived in Red Wing. In 1960, she bought Fitzsimmon's Hat Shop and named it Creola's.
