Description
Umbrella: Dark purple rayon? umbrella. The umbrella is 24" long from ferrule to handle. The cover is dark purple rayon?. There is a pattern of lighter colored outlined large and medium sized connecting circles. At the bottom of the cover is a 1/4" wide x 4 3/4" long dark purple rayon? strip that goes around the cover. It is fastened to the cover by a black plastic button and there is a silver colored metal D ring towards the end of the strip. There is no inside cover. The cover is approximately 19 1/2" long (at a rib) and has an approximately 33" diameter when opened. It has silver colored metal ribs. The tips of the ribs are clear lucite? The stick is light and medium brown vertically striped wood. The handle is light brown wood. The handle is in an L shape and is 3 1/4" long, 2 1/4" wide, 1 1/8" high on the bottom of the L part. and 7/8" wide. Above the handle is a black twisted cord that attaches to a carrying loop. The carrying loop is dark navy blue woven cotton and is 3/8" wide x 5 3/4" long. Where the cord attaches to the loop is a black wood cylinder shape piece. The ferrule is clear lucite? and is 3/4" long. The sliding tube that opens the umbrella is silver colored metal. There is a metal clip inside the tube that is pushed in to open the cover. At the top of the tube where the ribs join there is dark purple rayon? material around the ribs. On the inside towards the bottom of one rib is a white label with red print that says "F. Hollander & Son/50" Condition - The cover has large faded areas. There are large reddish brown faded areas towards the bottom. There are small tears towards and at the bottom of the cover. The stick and handle have a few light worn spots. The label is coming detached. MOLD? - The umbrella may have had mold. There were a few small spots. It was laid out in the basement room by the elevator from 4/6 - 4/12/2010. The spots were vacuumed on 4/12/2010.
