Description
This is a World War II poster advertising the need to purchase war bonds and stamps to help assist supporting the fighting man on the front lines because "CARE is Costly." In the poster, a wounded solder leans against a wall with his helmet set next to his left shin. His right hand is heavily wrapped in a bandage, his sleeve is torn, and his right leg is bandaged up and bleeding through the cloth. He looks to be a sergeant with a distant look in his eye. This could possibly refer to being shell shocked. Traces of gray can be seen at his temples and whiskers reveal his inability to shave for a few days. The artist who drew this picture is Adolph Treidler. This poster was reproduced by U.S. Government Printing Office in 1945.
