Description
This postcard was written by a woman named Vera W. to Irene Henderson, who lived in the Lime Springs area. Vera was from Mount Vernon, Illinois, and said she had received Irene's card. She said it had snowed on Christmas but it was mostly gone by the date of writing, December 29, 1913. She talked about her Sunday school class giving a New Year's party. She wished Irene could go with her. The postcard was stamped in Mount Vernon, Ill. on December 30, 1913. There is a one cent postage stamp on it. The picture side of the card shows a winter scene of a cottage near the edge of a lake covered in snow. In the forefront is a small tree with a few leaves remaining on it. At the bottom of the card is a new year's greeting stating, "A happy New Year."
