Description
In World War I, many of the men from Fillmore County who were drafted or enlisted in the military following the United States' entrance into the war were sent to Camp Cody, number 326, in New Mexico. This picture shows men in uniform who had been sent to Camp Cody for training in December of 1917. It is likely that men from the first selective service draft in Fillmore County that was conducted in September are included in this photograph. The picture shows the men standing, kneeling, and sitting in a row in front of the buildings at Camp Cody with officers seated on horses in the center and very front of the group. On the top of the picture there are five pictures that were pasted to the larger panoramic picture. Each picture has the name of the officer written in white next to it or on it.
The picture is held in a wooden frame painted gold. The wood has a simple design carved into it.
