Description
In the later years of the 1920s and into the later 1940s, those children and teens who succeeded in graduating from the eighth grade all gathered together at a town in Fillmore County from their rural schools scattered across the county. As graduating classes in well-established town schools may have had pictures taken of them in the past, this opportunity presented afforded those in small, one-room schoolhouses in the country to take their own commemorative picture together. Well-known local Lanesboro photographer Matthias Bue took these photos. This is one such picture for the Fillmore County Rural Schools Eighth Grade graduates from 1944. It was taken outside the high school in Harmony on June 16, 1944 together with Fillmore County Superintendent of Schools Irene Warren.

The photo is held in a simple wooden frame, painted a dark gray color with golden highlights in the tips. The tips of the edges do show a simple carved design on it.
