Gold, satin ribbon with a corn-cob-style tassel. This was donated in 1965 by Helen Walsh and her four sisters of Minneapolis. This tassel was part of a National Guard Uniform worn by their family member 1st Lt. John J. Walsh. John was born in Minneapolis in 1867. He was a part of the US Army Company K, 13th Minnesota and served in the Philippines during the Spanish-American War. He also worked at the Miller Davis Company as a salesman. John was a charter member of the Patterson Post of the VFW and served as treasurer and commander. He also served as the State Department Quartermaster and was a member of the National Council of Administration of the VFW. He died in 1935.
