Description
Pieced quilt made of 4-5" long rectangles arranged in a chevron pattern. Eight columns of chevron are sewn together lengthwise, each column 6-8" wide. Each fabric rectangle is either silk or velvet with varying colors and patterns. Dark blue, red, green, and black are the most common colors. The short ends are cut into a triangular border, 6-7" per triangle. No batting or backing, and seems somewhat unfinished. Strips sewn on to white cotton columns, and columns sewn together, but no other finishing touches. One short end not even sewn together entirely.
"Nectie quilt" (necktie?)
According to above description from accession sheet, this seems to be a quilt top rather than a quilt.
Original accession receipt identifies as "Mrs. Leach's Grandmother's nectie quilt-1860"
