Title
Lithic flakesDescription
Artifacts found during the 2017-2018 Pope County Archaeological Survey.
Two lithic artifacts were found at this location. These include a flake of heat-treated Swan River Chert, and a piece of shatter of unidentified burned chert.
Faunal remains recovered from the depression include 67 mammal bones - Not accessioned. 15 of these elements have been identified as Equus caballus (horse) remains (n=22%). The remaining fragments are too small and fragmented to identify to species, but considering the context of their deposition, their similar state of decay, and overall bone density it is likely these fragments are also horse. No other species were identified within this assemblage. The bones may represent one individual animal.
