Description
Artifacts found during the 2017-2018 Pope County Archaeological Survey.

A total of twenty-seven shovel tests were excavated (ST’s 119-146), of which three were positive. Positive shovel tests included ST 130 (two lithic flakes), ST 131 (two lithic flakes) and ST 136 (three lithic flakes). All shovel tests encountered frozen soils at depths ranging from 20 cmbs and 35 cmbs. More artifacts may have been recovered had conditions allowed the shovel tests to be excavated to greater depths. One additional lithic flake was discovered in a rodent backdirt pile, mapped and collected. None of the flakes were diagnostic.
