19th centuryDescription
Artifacts found during the 2017-2018 Pope County Archaeological Survey.
One undecorated white earthenware body fragment, probably of a tea cup, and one flow blue transfer-printed ceramic rim fragment of saucer were recovered. These artifacts represent tea drinking in the later 19thcentury—a ritual that is commonly associated with Metis of the Red River and with white settler society.
