Girandoni, Austrian Air Rifle, c.1787-1791,.45 Caliber. 32 5/8-inch octagonal barrel, with open sights. Maker's mark "G" stamped at breech. Brass frame, steel hammer and lockplate. Walnut stock with low relief carving; in three sections. Brass ramrod ferrules and steel ramrod. With round shaft air pump, the threaded end formed into octagonal configuration. Similar to Lewis and Clark Expedition rifle.
