British doglock-style flintlock military musket .76 caliber . 29-inch round barre.Lock has locking latch for hammer, appears to be home-constructed. Barrel has shallow rifling. No. "868" on barrel and on tang of buttplate. "624" on lockplate. "1785" on stock at rear of triggerguard. Inspector's mark "V" at end of triggerguard tang, Inspector's mark "FL" on left side of breech, Inspector's mark "B" on stock at end of sideplate. Folding leaf rear sight graduated for 300 to 600 yards and blade front sight. Brass mountings include triggerguard,sideplate, buttplate, ramrod ferrules, and flashpan. Steel ramrod. Walnut stock with sling swivels. Stock has been cleaned.
