Description

Embossed postcard with vertical image of a girl in a white blouse wearing an oversize hat with blue floral trim. She is holding a basket of blue and purple flowers.  Text in red and gold:  “Best Easter Wishes.  I've watered the flowers for Easter, To send a bright bunch to you, They bring you my iindest Greeting And many good wishes too.”  Illustration is signed by Ellen H. Clapsaddle who was one of the most prolific postcard illustrators of her time, and one of the few women employed full time as a commercial artist.  The divided back text is printed in taupe.  Manufacturer's mark is International Art Publ. Co. New York-Phila.  There is a square for a postage stamp which reads "Place Postage Stamp Here" but the card was hand delivered and not mailed.  The message in blue ink says "To wish you a happy Easter from M.S."  Addressee is Miss Alice Kelley.
