Description

Flow Blue Nonpareil design plate, 9 3/4” diameter, stamped Nonpareil, Burgess & Leigh, Middleport pottery.  Nonpareil is a vintage flow blue pottery pattern produced by the British company Burgess and Leigh at its Middleport Pottery site. The pattern features a detailed scenic design, was made in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Nonpareil pattern is a type of flow blue transferware, which is recognizable by the soft, slightly blurred cobalt-blue glaze. It features an elaborate outdoor scene with buildings, foliage, and figures. Based on the pottery's backstamp, pieces with the Nonpareil pattern were produced between 1889 and 1919.  From ‘Grandma Dittbrenner’ Christine (Hansen) Dittbrenner.
