Description

This large framed colored print depicts a male Indian chief wearing a black and red headdress with a single feather at the back. The man has a black goatee and has a gray and white blanket over his right shoulder. Below the print is the title, “Peah-Mus-Ka A Musquakea Chief.” Below that is the printing information: “Published by F.W. Greenough, PhilaD, Drawn printed and Coloured at L.T. Bewens Lithographic Establishment, 94 Walnut, Entered according by Act of Congress in the Year 1836 by FW Greenough in the Clerks Office of the District Court in the Eastern District of Penn.” The print has an off-white background and is double matted with a ¼ inch tan mat and a 2 ½ inch maroon textured mat. The ornate gilded wooden frame is two inches wide. The back is sealed with brown paper and it has a cable attached to two metal bars on each side of the frame. The metal bars are 2 in. x ½ in. and are each fastened tot he frame with 2 screws.
