Description
"This basket, 12 inches high and 10 inches square, is painted in the favored geometric designs of the Plains Indians: orange, red, green, yellow and blue triangles. It is made from parfleche, a material that is achieved by scraping the hair from a hide with sharp metal tool until only a very thin skin is left. The basket was made by Lena Snall, an Assiniboine Indian on the Fort Belknap reservation in Montana. The basket is trimmed with horsehair tassels held with tin holders, a typical Indian decoration."
