Title

Assumption Church Fun Fest 1986 button

Creation Date

1986

Description

2.5" diameter pinback button promoting the Assumption Fun Fest of 1986.  Blue button with the image of a person in a dunk tank.  White text:  “Assumption Funfest, It's a big splash.”  In smaller black on the tank: "Aug 16-17 1986."  Buttons were sold to promote the church festival, and raise start-up funds for the event.  Assumption Catholic Church was founded by both Bloomington and Richfield families and was built in an area then called “Bloomfield,” which encompassed sections of both Bloomington and Richfield.  It was the first Catholic Church built in either city. When additional Catholic Churches were built in Bloomington, Bloomington Catholics who lived northeast of 86th Street and Hwy 35W attended Assumption Church and many of their children attended the parish school.
