Description

2.5" diameter pinback button promoting the Assumption Fun Fest of 1989.  White button with the image of a wheel in red.  Each spoke has a word describing event activities including Bingo, Auction, Dunk Tank, Food, Games, Music.  Blue text around the edge:  “Assumption Fun Fest 89 Its a Wheel Good Time".  Buttons were sold to promote the church festival, and raise start-up funds for the event.  Assumption Catholic Church was founded by both Bloomington and Richfield families and was built in an area then called “Bloomfield,” which encompassed sections of both Bloomington and Richfield.  It was the first Catholic Church built in either city. When additional Catholic Churches were built in Bloomington, Bloomington Catholics who lived northeast of 86th Street and Hwy 35W attended Assumption Church and many of their children attended the parish school.
