Assumption Church Fun Fest 1993 button

Creation Date

1993

Description

2.5" diameter pinback button promoting the Assumption Fun Fest of 1993.  White button with the image of the sunshine in yellow wearing sunglasses which reflect palm trees and a sail boat.    Black text:  "Assumption Fun Fest '93."  Buttons were sold to promote the church festival, and raise start-up funds for the event.  Assumption Catholic Church was founded by both Bloomington and Richfield families and was built in an area then called “Bloomfield,” which encompassed sections of both Bloomington and Richfield.  It was the first Catholic Church built in either city. When additional Catholic Churches were built in Bloomington, Bloomington Catholics who lived northeast of 86th Street and Hwy 35W attended Assumption Church and many of their children attended the parish school.
