Description
The dress is a peach, sleaveless chiffon flapper dress with a scoop neckline. There are six front and six rear extensions to create the flapper effect. The dress has a silk slip with shoulder straps. There is a fabric belt at the waist with a snap at the right side. The dress has white crystal beading. There are two beaded rectangles on the left and right side that extend over the shoulder and down the back, starting two inches above the belt in the front and back. The fabric belt has beads at each edge. There are six beaded rectangles on the front and back that extend down the skirt begining two inches below the belt with six inch extensions below the bottom of the dress. The dress dates to 1922 and was donated by Ruth Schmitt (ne Nash), daughter of Frederick Parks Nash (Nash Finch Co.), wife of Walter E. Schmitt (Schmitt Music Co.). The dress was purchased in Paris and worn by Ruth.
