Double Wedding. B/W photo of Nels Peterson and Mathilda Ostrom (the couple on the left) and Theodore Ostrom and Mary Olson (the couple on the right) on the day of their double wedding on May 19th, 1887 in New Sweden Township. Nels and Mathilda Peterson spent several years in St. Peter before moving to a farm near Detroit Lakes. In 1919 they drove to Sacremento, California in a Model T Ford, where they spent the rest of their lives. They had three children: Robert Peterson (died in infancy, buried in Greenwood Cemetery in New Sweden Township, MN), Ethel Peterson, and Jessie F. Peterson. Theodore and Mary Ostrom purchased half of the Nils Ostrom farm. Theodore operated a molasses press on the northeast corner of the farm. They had ten children: Mabel Ostrom, Stella Ostrom, Lloyd Ostrom, Eva Ostrom, Grace Ostrom, Verna Ostrom, Harvey Ostrom, Maurine Ostrom, Adlie Ostrom, and Nina Ostrom. The last two who are listed here died in infancy.
