Selma Benedict of New Sweden Township. The label on the back states that she is Selma Pearson Benedict and that she was from New Sweden. Minnesota Marriage Records state that Selma Parsel, married F. W. Benedict in Sibley County on March 16th, 1893. It is believed that this is an error, and that the last name should be Pehrsson. U.S. Evangelical Lutheran Church records from Scandian Grove Lutheran Church state that Selma Pehrson (16 May 1865 - 9 Feb 1900, Minneapolis) was a daughter of Anders and Johanna Pehrson (or Pehrsson). The records state that she married Fred [sic] W. Benedict on 16 March 1893. Selma Pehrsson and Fordyce W. Benedict (1848-1914) had a daughter, Cora Benedict (Funk), born in 1896. The 1925 Floyd, Iowa, census lists Cora's parents as Ford Benedict and Selma Person [sic]. The 1900 St. Peter census shows Cora Benedict living with the family of Gustaf Oslund and Mary Pehrsson Oslund, a sister of Selma Pehrsson Benedict. It is inferred that after Selma died, Ford Benedict left the care of Cora to the Oslunds.
