Ostrom Family. B/W photos (12) showing the members of the Nels Nelson Ostrom and Mary Ostrom family of Nicollet County. Nils was born in Skane, Sweden on August 20, 1834, and died October 12, 1923. Mary was born in Elvborge, Sweden on April 4, 1839, and died April 18, 1926. They are buried in Greenwood Cemetery in New Sweden. They lived in Afton, Minnesota until 1869, before moving to New Sweden Township in 1869, where they began farming. Hand-hewn timbers for the house were transported from Henderson by ox-team. Nels and Mary had 12 children: Aaron Ostrom, Clara Ostrom, Mathilda Ostrom, Theodore Ostrom, Charles Ostrom, Oscar Ostrom, Walter Ostrom, Pauline Ostrom, Amanda Ostrom, Helen Ostrom, Hattie Ostrom and Myrtie Ostrom.
