Brown, G. A. B/W photo of G. A. Brown. The 1860 Traverse des Sioux census shows G. A. Brown (age 30, insurance agent from Ohio), his wife, Sue (age 27, also from Ohio), and three children. Garretson Addison Brown is well described in the book "Old Traverse des Sioux." A note on the back of the photo, a transcription of which follows, also provides a great deal of information about Brown. Garretson Addison Brown. Born Achor Columbiana Co Ohio Dec 24, 1829. Died Denver, Col Oct 13, 1884. Came to Traverse des Sioux in 1853; returned to Ohio. Married Mch 8, 1854 and returned to Traverse des Sioux 1854 and established a general merchandise store. Closed this out and dealt in real estate & line stock. Was Judge of Probate Nicollet Co from --- to ---. Moved to Denver Colorado in 1873. Wife: Sue Carey.
