Archie was a veteran of World War I. At age 19 he enlisted in the U. S. Army on 22 February 1918, in Cass County, Minnesota. He served with the 34th Regiment C. A. C. (Coast Artillery Corps) at Camp Abraham Eustis, Virginia, which was home to a balloon observation school. Archie held the rank of Cook. He was discharged on 24 December, 1918.
Archie Rither, son of Elda A. and Leora A. (Varney) Rither, was born 29 April 1899 in St. Francis, MN and died July 1976 in Apopka, FL. He was buried in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Gotha, Orange County, Florida.
