Description

Frame is brown with painted gold faux studs and lined raised edges. Matted with beige with black under mat. 

Blond woman wearing a blue dress with a white belt and red shoes and a watch, holds a red cup in her left hand. She waves at the train with her right hand. To her left (on the right side of the picture) sits a man wearing a green shirt, tan slacks, and argyle socks in green, yellow ad white with red lines. He is wearing a watch and holding a pale green bordered plate with a red handled fork resting on it in his left hand. A wood picnic basket with a red and white cloth has a brown and silver thermos next to it, and between the man and woman. They are seated on a rocky outcropping above a lake and the train. A canoe with paddle can be seen below them in the water. Tree covered rocks and rock cliff are in the background of the train. A white building with a red roof can be seen in the middle left with a telephone pole to the right. Parts of 2 tracks are visible. The red and orange train, going from right to left, is pulled by a locomotive with “Hiawatha” on the side. A round red light is one the front of the locomotive with 3 chrome strips below. 
There are 5 windows along the curved side and 2 rows of domed windows above them, 6 on each side. Passengers can be seen in the windows. The rest of the train has a gray top with a red horizontal stripe running just below the top. The red stripe has orange lettering “The Milwaukee Road”. The windows along the rest of the cars are in a wider red stripe. 5 more cars are partially visible. Bottom black banner across bottom reads ‘CHICAGO MILWAUKEE ST PAUL AND PACIFIC’ in a red slanted rectangular red box. The the left in white “Ride in ‘49 on the’ ‘Hiawatha Line’ in orange cursive. Thinner bands in orange bands along top and bottom.

Small oval print on right near side below couple and above logo reads 'Local No. 10 Amalgamates Lithographer of America Union Label Twin Cities.
