Description
Cast iron Shakopee Foundry coverplate. It has a diamond scroll pattern throughout. All lettering is intact and clearly legible. Coverplate from the Shakopee Foundry, which was part of the Shakopee Stove Company. The piece is round and the edge curves up. The center is solid with a raised fruit and heart design. Surrounding the center are oval shaped vents with a thin border. Around that, forming much of the body of the plate, is a repeating decorative cutwork pattern consisting of diamonds, leaves, and scrollwork. Seen embossed on the underside of the coverplate is "Shakopee Foundry."
