Description

Viggo Vagnby created this poster to promote travel to Odense, Denmark, the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen. “This charming original vintage poster promotes Odense, Denmark as a travel destination through an illustration inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Ugly Duckling." The tale tells of a little bird who faced rejection and mistreatment for being different until he discovered his true identity as a beautiful swan, finding acceptance among his peers. The poster, designed by Viggo Vagnby, showcases a beautiful white swan set against a black background with a backdrop of reeds. In the foreground, a small brown cygnet, known as the "ugly duckling," is also depicted. Overall, the poster is a delightful representation of the beloved fairy tale.” 1
