Description

Oval-shaped, plain weave basket made from dark-brown flat-oval reeds. The lid is fitted with a domed shape and has been attatched to the rim via metal wire; it features a loop clasp at the front made from metal and reeds. Two braided reed swing handles, attatched with metal loops to the front and back, are present on either side of the body.

This basket was used by the mother of the donor as a knitting basket since at least 1894.
