This document is a partially unfilled notice that an individual elected to the office of road overseer in the town of New Market would be required to sign to show that they accepted the position. The front page was left blank, but the second page was partially written in, with the overseer's name left blank.

The first page reads:

The second page reads:

"To Joseph H. Baltes Town Clerk of the Town of New Market County of County and State of Minnesota:

Sir== Having been Elected Overseer of Highways for Road District No. 17 in said Town on the 14th day of March A.D. 1899, I hereby notify you that I accept said office.

Witness my hand, this 14th day of March A.D. 1899 ____"
