Pope County community members from left to right Henry Hanson, J. H. Peterson, Mabel Barsness, Ove Pederson, Robert Gomsrud, Ardell Nelson, Floyd Anderson, James O. Barsness and Kermit Heling standing under the Pope County Museum's new sign.
Persons who have wondered what the long, low, brick building was just east of the lake road and State Highway 104 intersection in Glenwood need puzzle no more. A sign identifying the new $100,000 Pope County Historical Museum was accepted by J. H. Peterson, chairman, and Mrs. James E. Barsness (Mabel), treasurer, of the Pope County Historical Society, and they expressed their thanks to the industrial arts department and those who donated materials. The sign was constructed by Robert S. Gomsrud, industrial arts instructor at the Glenwood High School with assistance from those pictured. The sign frame is 9 feet tall by 8 feet in width, the actual sign hanging from the frame is 4 feet by 6 feet.
