Various papers relating to Red Wing High School Gay Straight Alliance's observation of a "Day of Silence" in 2011. The day of silence was a day in which students did not speak during the day to honor the loss of several LGBTQIA+ young people who had taken their own lives earlier that year. With the object being to showcase the voices that had been lost to suicide.
 The documents also date back to 2010 in the planning of the event. 
This folder also includes Facebook comments from other high school students that use slurs for the LGBTQIA+ community and hate speech. Please be advised when reading.

Content Warning: This collection, while mostly chronicling the founding of LGBTQIA+ advocacy in Red Wing, Minnesota, does include harmful, hateful, and threatening material that organizations like PFLAG, The Diversity Festival, Pride, and members of the Queer community in Red Wing, and the greater Minnesota and America have received through their years of advocating for LGBTQIA+ lives. This material includes slurs, threats of violence, as well as hateful and harmful speech. Please be advised when viewing.
