Karen Butler, Villard High School senior, was presented a $100 college scholarship by the grand lodge of the Minnesota Masons for being one of the statewide winners in their essay contest on “How the Public Schools Serve America.” Henry Foelschow, Glenwood, left, representing the grand lodge, presented Karen her check for $100, while Russell Torfin, on the right, grand senior steward of Minnesota Masons from Villard, presented her an official certificate from the grand lodge. The presentation was made last week during a meeting of Sincerity lodge 161, A. F. and A. M. in Villard. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Butler, Villard, she will enroll next fall at Moorhead State college. She and Grant Torfin won $25 savings bonds for winning the local Villard High School contest.
