Papers are being prepared this week for the sale of Backlund's Superette, owned by Vernon Backlund, to Vincent J. Hennessy. Mr. Hennessy is expected to take over active management on July 14.
The store, originally started by the late Simon H. Backlund in 1941, exchanged hands in 1960 when Mr. Backlund retired and his son, Vernon, became the owner. The building prior was owned by Mrs. John Peterson, who operated a restaurant at that point. The store is located on Highway 61, not far from the Post Office corner. The store has been enlarged at various times, being remodeled only last fall.
