James J. Hill was linked to Lake Minnetonka and the Westonka Area of Minnesota in many ways. Due to his involvement with the railroad industry, he was sometimes called “The Empire Builder”. His building of the Hotel Lafayette, a massive structure in Minnetonka Beach, as well as his building of the Belle of Minnetonka, a massive steam-powered boat, Lake Minnetonka became a play area for the rich and famous in the late 1800’s.  Duration: 1:16:48
