Description

Norwegian American immigration sesquicentennial banner with red and blue text that reads "Sesquicentennial 1825-1975". In the center is a seal with a ship.

Donated in 1976 by Ray Thorshov of Minneapolis, former president of Hennepin County Historical Society.

In 1825, the first Norwegian ship carrying forty-six passengers came to the U.S. marking the beginning of Scandanavian immigration to the upper Midwest. 150 years later, celebrations took place in Minnesota and Norway to commemorate that first voyage.
