Description

Portrait of George Floyd in an indigo hoodie; background is yellow and depicts flowers outlined in orange. Along the bottom "Justice for George Floyd" is painted in white. The painting was inspired by a conversation the artist, Adam Johnson, had with his five-year-old daughter Frida after they visited the George Floyd memorial at 38th and Chicago. Frida understood that a man had been killed and that people were angry; but thought that the flowers, and the act of so many people bringing flowers, was beautiful. The artist states that the painting demands justice for George Floyd and intends the flowers to be representative of the flowers people brought for him at his memorial.
