Description

The pipestone Indian Peace Pipe with hair braid design was found on Erick Erickson's father's (Ole's) farm when he homesteaded about 1886 on the farm 4.5 miles west of Starbuck. In 2015, Archaeologists from the Minnesota Historical Society visited our museum and identified several of the pieces in our collection. They confirmed that Pipestone was often quarried by peoples throughout the area, as well as frequently traded.
