Description
"Plate of fine earthen ware, a semi-porcelain, 10.5 inches across.
A treasured souvenir of the Zion Lutheran Church of Belgrade, Minnesota. A deep border design of a formalized plant, in gold, sets off the picture of the church, with its low belfry tower, arched windows, steps and trees in brown color.
This church was organized in 1892, and the first church completed in 1893 at which time Rev. HO Koefod began to serve as pastor, and stayed until 1923. In 1912 the church was struck by lightening and destroyed. Only two pastors served during 60 years.
The back of the plate has its history and also World Wide Arts Studios, Covington, Tenn. (Its maker) and a shield Stetson Warranted 22 kt. gold.
This memento reminds one of the religious and social services centered therein -- the baptisms, weddings, conformations and deaths. The Ladies' Aid and happy times."
