Description

"Table runner or scarf 76" long and 7.5" wide. Embroidered with silkateen thread on white cotton in Hardanger stitch (all the work moves in one direction) on this type of cloth used for this art. Design is in a lattice and star effect. Hemstitched in cotton thread in spaced design. Ends hand stitched.
Scarf belonged to Mrs. O. Brandvold.
In this county were many Scandinavian people had settled, the women brought the old Norwegian hand crafts of which Hardanger work is an example in embroidery. "
