Description

This is a 16-4/10X 10-8/10cm sepia photograph titled "Residence of Joseph Peacock" from 1876. He was the Sheriff. According to the WPA papers, it was located on lot 3, block 27 - the south side of 1st Ave SW between Franklin and 1st Streets. (About where the Minnewaska Meats parking lot is located in 2014.) He used his residence as his office and many interesting municipal cases were heard and settled in his home.
The Glenwood Herald, Dec 31 1897 4/2 reported that the "Joe Peacock house on West Green Street was torn down and replaced." during the previous year.
