Description
Treadle Sewing machine - "A S.M. Wilson Co. model. Frame made of Black walnut, 2 drawers on either side with nickel plated ring pulls set into scalloped pieces with the word American on each piece. Drawers are well made, dove tailed to front piece which is carved into formal square design. Cover has set-on veneered corners, with large oval of circossion walnut inset. Drop leaf at side. Machine part is very small with an arc across the front controlling the needle shaft. Tension is centered and wheel controlled by the treadle is in the back. The stand is of cast iron painted black, except the name Wilson is in gold. Very simple designs of two curved supports. Machine had much use, is of fine quality and has been cared for. A treasure in the Casper Wollan home, where home sewing was done by the mother of the family, or / and by a seamstress who went from house to house for a week or two of intensive sewing." There are 6 bobbins in the drawers.
