Description

Piece of coverlet, woven before 1698 by Roelif Etling. He was a weaver in France and one of the Huguenots who went to Holland because of religious persecution and thence to New York state in America. Roelif Elting was an ancestor of Hazel (Mrs. James L.) Owen. Fragment of textile - blue with a white pattern on the front - opposite on the back. Picture of Andrew Emerson was found in the frame with this artifact in 2007. We do not believe the picture is linked to the fragment.
