Description
Bottle from "The Owens Spring Water Co." Clear glass. 7 oz. Found in Benson when the Benson bottling works was excavated. See newspaper article in the Owens business file. Owens Spring was incorporated in 1908 by Robert Owens, George S. Blood, Theodore Aune, Ole Lee, C. O. Lee, and Al Torrens. The purpose of the company was to ship the famous Glenwood Spring Water into the Dakotas and to manufacture and sell soft drinks. The water "Pure and clear as crystal" has been taken from the springs in the north part of town which were at that time owned by Mr. Owens and which were later acquired by the city of Glenwood. See business file for Owens Springs.
