Regimental drum used in the United States Civil War by Stephen D. Benedict, who served in Company C., 14th Wisconsin Infantry from 1861 to 1865. Drum sticks are black wood. According to internet information Stephen D. Benedict is listed as enlisted on 09/08/1861 in the Wisconsin Infantry and mustered out on 10/09/1865. Drum is constructed with thin wood painted red and unpainted rims on the top and bottom of the drum. Drum head is made of rawhide. There are rivets throughout, on the front the rivets are in a circular pattern. Jute and leather strap.
