Description

Army Uniform, WWI a) shirt: light OD, wool flannel. Long sleeved, 1/4 button front. Two front breast pockets. Oval elbow patches. Hook and eye & snap closure on collar. b) jacket: light OD, cotton twill. Mandarin style collar with hook and eye closures. "U.S" collar disc on right collar, Corps of Engineers insignia collar disc on the left collar. 5 large eagle insignia buttons close the jacket at center front. 2 large breast pockets and 2 large hip pockets. Epaulette on each shoulder fasten with same buttons. Closed with smaller versions of the large eagle buttons. Left sleeve has Army ground forces patch, private (E--2) rank, and 3 overseas service chevrons, indicating 18 month of overseas service. Right sleeve has chevron corporal rank.
(c) breeches: light OD, cotton twill. Button fly. Two front angled slash style pockets. Small straight slash coin pocket on right hip. No back pockets. Belt loops. Lower part of leg lace up with brown cotton lacing. Includes belt (2001.31.2d).
(d) belt: light tan, cotton web. Brass open faced military style belt buckle. "Mills 332" & "QUMSD" stamped on brass belt end.
(e) garrison cap: light OD, wool. White cotton inside band. Corps of Engineers insignia disc on left side of cap.
(f) turtleneck: gray wool. Knit. Small white tag on lower hem line with initials "WJM"

(h) undershirt: sleeveless, brown cotton w/red castle graphic [company emblem](inventoried by Gunderson, Petra 2021-01-07) i) undershirt: sleeveless, white wool
(j) drawers: white cotton, boxer-style
