(pair) man's Army boots size 9 1/2, russet leather with brown laces 

The boots are likely from the Second World War. The design is consistent with the patterns and materials found on US service boots before and during the war. The bottom of the heel is marked " LIGHT-TREAD * TRADE MARK * TRIPLE WEAR * MX." The arch is marked "9 1/2 D * U.S.A. No 53." The toe is marked "U.S. ARMY." The tongue is marked "LaCOUTURE * U.S.A." The sole is partially rubber (mainly the toe and heel sections of the boots) and partially leather (the arch).
