Description

Rifle, wood, steel, and brass bear hunting gun. The wooden stock has a carved cheek rest on one side. There is a cross-hatch design on the back side of the stock. The stock is a single piece of wood which is hollowed out for the octagonal barrel. On the left side of the lock housing there are 23 notches carved. There is a brass tubular shaped piece attached under the wooden stock in the barrel. There are screw threads on the end of this (this turns). There is a horseshoe shaped piece of metal fastened by two screws 7.5" back from the end of the barrel. The metal barrel is octagonal on the outside. The inside of barrel has twelve rifling grooves. There is a fixed sight near the end of the barrel and a moveable sight close to the hammer. The single hammer is an inset piece of metal inscribed "C. Delp. in Darmstadt." At the shoulder end of the stock is a piece of metal attached by a single screw and inset into the top of the stock. There is a trigger underneath the hammer with a finger hold which lightens the trigger weight of the rifle. The trigger is enclosed in a metal trigger guard which includes a finger rest . All together the system is called a "double set trigger". The ramrod is in backwards. The barrel is constructed with pattern welded steel.
