Description
Ballot box made out of walnut. This box has two locking drawers both having separate keys. Box's interior drawer slides out on key side. The top of the box has a lift box that opens on hinges with two pieces of glass that fit into slots that a ballot is dropped into. There is also a slot in the front of the box for putting ballots into. Keys inside. The ballot box was used by Col. Joseph Birge when he was city clerk in Saint Charles, Minnesota. It was originally used in Ohio and brought to Saint Charles by a pioneer settler.
